History

Magpies Reclamation Yard was created in 2004, with help from a good friend, from the desire and passion to preserve the regions architectural reclamation and salvage materials. Since 2000 rapid property price increases and the growing popularity of Cornwall (as a place to live or have a second home) saw a dramatic increase in the number of house clearances and general property renovations. Much of the areas fine architectural items were ending up in skips or on bonfires, whilst other people were crying out for local original architectural tems for their renovations. From this background Magpies was formed to "recycle" the regoins heritage into the homes of future generations.

We finally opened our doors to the public at the end of February 2005. The rest as they say is history, and now Jamie or Sarah can be found in the shop six days a week to help with any enquiries you may have.

Jamie & Sarah

We have lived in the village of Rock for nearly ten years and have spent most of our lives in North Cornwall. Life has always been hectic, with two big children and busy 2½ year old twins!

We've turned our hands to many things and previously, having been landlord and landlady of a guest house we developed good customer skills and the experience taught us to offer that extra bit of care.

Our lives have always been influenced by a love of art and music and this is reflected in the quirky nature of the shop. For some years Jamie worked as an artist, selling pieces throughout cornwall - a good eye is essential and we've been gathering knowledge and vision over the years, tuning into what works and what doesn't.
